The new single from London’s Big Sister is also the debut release from CROCODILE RCRDS: an independent label founded by Hatcham Social brothers Toby and Finnigan Kidd. Initiating with a spidery, entrancing guitar riff, it soon becomes clear that Let’s Go Fly A Kite is far from a modern take on the Mary Poppins classic.
Instead, the single is an almost hypnotic number that reveres to the dawning on the 1990s. Channeling acts such as Ride and Sonic Youth, while the way-wah heavy guitar fills are strongly reminiscent of The Stone Roses’ Second Coming. As Nico and Joahnna Curwood’s moody vocals drive the track into the territory of the teenage years of the 21st Century.
Let’s Go Fly A Kite is available to download from here, and will be released as a physical cassette tape on September 13th, due to be available at the single launch show on Saturday September 14th.
